Vacancy for Senior Power Plant Engineer

The Anguilla Electricity Company Limited invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the position of Senior Power Plant Engineer. This position will require the incumbent to oversee the day to day engineering operations of the company’s generation plant. The priorities for this position include quality assurance and problem resolution.

Deadline: Applications must be submitted by December 14^th 2018.

The main duties and responsibilities include:

• Develop and recommend standards, procedures and specifications to be used in the Generation Department,

• Provide guidance and support to plant staff to help ensure related tasks are performed,
• Champion critical analysis and assist in causal analysis of plant component failures, environmental related items, and operational events,
• Conduct project management and technical oversight,
• Coordinate and execute betterment capital and O&M projects, interface with plant production and maintenance, project personnel and other stake holders,
• Ensure plant modification process is followed on projects,
• Provide project and maintenance troubleshooting of equipment to address issues in a timely manner,
• Provide oversight of engineering activities of external firms, including development of work scopes, and solicitation and evaluation of proposals, project planning and controls, review of deliverables, installation support, and start-up assistance,
• Assist the Systems Control Engineer in evaluating and implementing improvements in plant processes, support plant staff in establishing action plans to close training gaps, and track action plan progress through to completion,

• Coordinate the day to day operations of the Generation Department to ensure that system load demands are met,
• Coordinate the implementation of preventive and corrective maintenance schedules and programmes for the company’s generating plant,

• Be responsible for providing electrical and/or mechanical resolutions to plant problems,

• Ensure the serviceability of tools, equipment and materials required to achieve operational objectives,

• Employ technical resources to assist in daily operations/maintenance activities,
• Provide expert level consultation associated with applicable equipment (e.g. turbine – generator, auxiliaries, etc.),

• Perform other related duties and projects as required by the job function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• A minimum of Five (5) years Electrical Utility Managerial Engineering experience.

Key competencies include communication proficiency, effective leadership, project management and problem-solving analysis.

Remuneration will be based on qualifications and experience.
