ANGLEC Pole Numbers

ANGLEC POLE NUMBERS

ANGLEC began an effort for pole numbering in Anguilla in about 1999 with an effort to enable GPS location capabilities in Anguilla. Back then the pole numbers were stenciled onto the poles to indicate their location coordinates. Since then, we have upgraded to using metal number plates with an initiative in (YEAR) to totally re-number all the poles after the island-wide destruction of Hurricane Irma. But, what are pole numbers and why are they important?

The Importance of Pole Numbers

Pole numbers are used to identify the poles and equipment that exists on ANGLEC’s electrical network. Because the pole numbers are geocoded, they are also used to help us to quickly locate customers for service.

How can customers use pole numbers?

Pole numbers are used to find specific locations. For customers, it can be very helpful to memorize, write down or save a photo of the pole number that is closest to your home.

Providing a pole number can help you easily inform your ANGLEC contact person of your location when reporting a fault or issue at your location or in your community (for example during an outage). Using pole numbers can help out teams get to the right location as quickly as possible. Pole numbers labels are made up of two parts, namely the North-South location and the East-West location. Each part of the label is made up of one letter and two digits.

A pole that is numbered V575H044 would be located at 18.20958°N and 63.05073°W. Can you find this pole? Can you decipher the code?
