ANGLEC 1 Year of Free Electricity Winner Announcement

The Anguilla Electricity Company Ltd. ANGLEC handed over the company’s largest Grand Prize to date, 1 Year of Free Electricity, to lucky winner Ms. Lauraine Gumbs.  Ms. Gumbs is a native of The Valley, Anguilla, and emerged as the grand prize winner from a pool of over 600 ANGLEC customers who participated in the promotional raffle, which began on December 23, 2022; ANGLEC’s Holiday Customer Appreciation Day.

The prize of 1 Year of Free Electricity is based on residential consumption and was created to aid a lucky customer during what has become a trying economic time following events such as Hurricane Irma and the Covid-19 Pandemic. The feedback from the raffle was overwhelmingly positive and indicated the need for such programs. As the company continues to strengthen its position amid the current local, regional, and international challenges affecting many communities and companies, the goal is to offer more prize opportunities of this nature. Already, plans are in place to reward customers who have been participating in ANGLEC’s phased Paperless Transition with a grand prize drawing in the coming months. ANGLEC takes this time to encourage those who have yet to update their account details of digital communication to do so as soon as possible to be updated on important account information and qualify to be a lucky winner like Ms. Gumbs.

When asked how it felt to be the winner of ANGLEC’s 1 Year of Free Electricity, Ms. Gumbs shared that she felt “shock, disbelief, elated…, words just don’t do any justice to how I feel at this moment. My heart is full, and I am so grateful to ANGLEC for their generosity. I feel blessed as this invaluable gift comes at an opportune time.

ANGLEC’s CEO, Mr. Sutcliffe Hodge, and ANGLEC’s Customer Relations Officer, Ms. Joya Richardson-Hodge, presented the check to Ms. Gumbs at ANGLEC’s main office and shared a brief congratulatory moment with her. Mr. Hodge noted that while the company focuses on large-scale development, ensuring that ANGLEC’s customers are supported and celebrated in the process is essential.

“In our journey forward, our ability to facilitate and accelerate change for ANGLEC and Anguilla has come with some temporary sacrifices. We have scaled back on our non-essential expenditures such as numerous giveaways but in doing so realized an opportunity to make a big impact on a family for the holiday seasons. We hope to do more creative contributions as we progress into this new year” – Mr. Hodge.

Ms. Richardson-Hodge added her congratulations, stating, “It was a pleasure to be a part of the process to award our grand prize winner Ms. Laurine Gumbs, as well as the numerous winners of other prizes over the Holiday season. This was a fun and different promotional collaboration between our Customer Care and Public Relations efforts and I am excited about the impact ANGLEC is making now and will make in the near future as we continue our commitment to our customers.”
