April 2022 Fuel Surcharge Adjustment

March 11th, 2022 – Fuel Surcharge Adjustment Notice

The Anguilla Electricity Company Ltd. (ANGLEC), advises that the Fuel Surcharge will be adjusted to 45¢ per kWh on Friday April 1st, 2022.

Adjustment Background

On July 9th 2021ANGLEC re-adjusted the Fuel Surcharge from 42¢ per kWh (July 1st,2021) to 25¢ per kWh due to economic factors affecting customers at the time. Unfortunately, in addition to the previous inflations in 2021, fuel costs have spiked recently and remained consistently high.

With predictions for continued volatility due to ongoing global crisis, not issuing an adjustment now after an extended period of dramatic inflation would significantly hinder ANGLEC’s operating ability.

With the impending adjustment, ANGLEC is still committed to absorb a large portion of the current fuel costs to soften the impact on customers in these difficult economic times even after sustaining a rate far below the international standards for the past few years.

Kindly note, all adjustments to the Fuel Surcharge are applied in accordance with the Electricity (Rates and Charges) Legislation. More information can be found here: http://www.gov.ai/laws/E035-02-Electricity%20(Rates%20and%20Charges)%20Regulations/
