ANGLEC PAPERLESS INITIATIVE
The Anguilla Electricity Company Ltd. ANGLEC is pleased to announce an upcoming initiative for paperless billing. This initiative is scheduled to roll out at the beginning of September and is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
ANGLEC is streamlining its services with a focus on electronic communication which has been an ongoing effort in recent years. The impending paperless initiative builds upon the appeals ANGLEC has made for customers to transition to an online account and to come in and update their account information. To this end, the company plans to stop printing and mailing bills for customers and seeks to communicate billing information primarily through electronic means.
Printed bills will not be distributed following the start of the program in September 2022 and customers are advised to make the relevant preparations as follows:
- Set up an ANGLEC online account via anglec.com using the meter reading and account details from your most recently issued printed bill before bill printing ends for unlimited access to your account details.
- Update all contact information on file at ANGLEC specifically email addresses and phone numbers.
- Call ANGLEC’s Customer Care unit to confirm account and bill information in advance of visiting the office to make payments or in order to set up an online account (if the most recent bill cannot be located).
ANGLEC CEO Mr. Sutcliffe Hodge noted that; “Since recently joining ANGLEC, it has come to my attention that a significant number of the printed electricity bills mailed to customers are returned to the company uncollected. Additionally, many people who receive their bills in the mail often retrieve them from their mailbox long after the payment due date.
We are in the process of selecting the most effective means to issue electronic bills at present but customers who do not have access to an electronic means of receiving bills will be able to view their bills when they come to the office to settle same.”
ANGLEC indicates that the bills must be printed on specialty paper and that these printed services are offered at a significant cost to the company. A cost that is an unnecessary burden thanks to modernizations, both at ANGLEC and across the business landscape. With the introduction of online bill payment and bill payment through banking institutions, and the Post Office, customers primarily require the amount owed to settle their account (they have access to all other information through alternative means).
It is worthy to note that, the Electricity Act and Regulations call for a customer to receive a bill. The bill is not required to be a hard copy or printed copy. In an era when companies need to be conscious of the environment and the need to contain expenditure, the Board of Directors and ANGLEC management deem it prudent to be paperless at this time.
Kindly note: For the elderly or those unable to access electronic services in office or over the phone provisions will be made available.
