Your Support means more than you know!
Today marks 60 days since Anguilla was devastated by hurricane Irma, one of the most catastrophic storms to ever hit our region. The widespread damage is evident, even now after so much work has been done to clean and repair our island and ANGLEC’s infrastructure. What is less noticeable in the aftermath of a storm like this are the long-lasting emotional and personal damages suffered by those who experienced it and must work to rebuild.
For some, 2 months may seem like plenty of time to recover. However, for many of us at ANGLEC it still feels like week 1 post Irma as we work to reverse the extent of her damage daily and shoulder the weight of restoring a nation eager to rebound.
In the hours after Irma, before we could even wrap our minds around the full impact of the storm, ANGLEC was already mobilizing for restoration. Almost all ANGLEC employees ventured out into the danger and debris on day 1 to clear the roads, conduct assessments and begin work. Much of this was done knowing their homes were damaged or destroyed and family and friends were in need.
Every day since, the teams and employees of ANGLEC have made many personal sacrifices and assumed new roles to lead the way in Anguilla’s restoration. One thing that keeps us going through it all is the support of our wonderful customers and friends!
So, as we continue to work tirelessly to restore our island home, we take this time to pause and recognize members of the public who have made kind contributions to lighten the burden of this unprecedented exercise.
