From hanging banners, to coordinating with radio stations and Calypsonians, we were in full Carnival promotion and preparation mode last week!
For the past 10 years ANGLEC has been a proud sponsor of Anguilla’s Summer Festival and over the last 6 years we’ve focused our support on the annual Calypso Monarch Competition. As a corporate sponsor our goal is to assist in the continued development of arts and culture within Anguilla.
Carnival is a special time to revel in excitement and celebrate the creativity, dedication and skill that drive our local entertainers and festive events. We wanted to add more than our financial support the festive season as the Platinum Sponsor for the Calypso Monarch Competition, which is what inspired us to host our very first Calypso tent in 2015. Since then, our Calypso tents have gotten bigger and better with this year’s event ranking as our of our best so far!

The evening started off early with a bouncy castle for the children as well refreshments served by ANGLEC’s Sports and Social club to the tune of music by DJ Kastro.
Host “Old Man Nuncy”
kicked off the program with jokes right out the gate and introduced the Jr Calypsonians for the first segment of the night.
The Mighty Lyric, Mighty Linga, and Executor
wowed the crowd with their confident performances and lyrical content.
Next up was the much anticipated ANGLEC Employee T-shirt competition.
Employees were challenged to show up to the event wearing the “We love Calypso” themed t-shirt for this year. The T&D department won fist place with the highest percentage of employees present at 44%, Admin was a close second at 41% followed by Generation with 8%.
Around 9:00pm the crowd eagerly welcomed senior Calypsonians:

Gossip
Messenger
and Roxxy.
In between the electrifying performances ANGLEC gave away prizes,
including cash, gift-bags, t-shirts, bill credits and free tickets to the Calypso Monarch show on August 4th,2017.
The event ended with a bang! ANGLEC hosted it’s first ever
Extempore Calypso Competition
